TSMC plans to add a fab in Singapore? Official response: do not rule out any possibility

  According to Taiwan Media Economic Daily, on May 19, TSMC Singapore itself had an SSMC fab. Recently, it was reported that Singapore officials intend to invite TSMC to set up a local factory. In this regard, TSMC briefly pointed out in the evening that the company does not rule out any possibility. But the company doesn't have any concrete plans at the moment.


  According to reports, the SSMC fab of TSMC's Singapore plant was established as early as 2000 and put into production in 2001. The plant is owned by TSMC, Philips Semiconductors and the Singapore Economic Development and Investment Authority (EDBI; Economic Development Board Investments). Co-investment established in Singapore.


  According to TSMC's press release at the time, the factory's initial production process was dominated by 0.25-micron and 0.18-micron processes, and by 2002, 0.15-micron and 0.12-micron processes will be introduced successively. The plant has a monthly capacity of 30,000 eight-inch wafers at full capacity.


  It is reported that SSMC's CMOS-Logic chip products can be used in a variety of fields, including telecommunications, multimedia, consumer digital electronics, networking, and information technology.
