According to the Polish "Puls Biznesu" report on July 1, many countries including Poland, Romania and the Czech Republic are negotiating with Intel, hoping that Intel will build a chip factory in their own territory.

Public information shows that Intel's expansion layout has a wider range of radiation. In the United States, it mainly includes the D1X factory in Oregon and two new chip factories in Chandler, Arizona, as well as the planned two new chip factories in Ohio and New Mexico. Europe plans to invest 17 billion euros to build an advanced semiconductor manufacturing plant in Germany; create a new R&D and design center in France; invest in R&D, manufacturing and foundry services in Ireland, Italy, Poland and Spain.

However, Intel has recently been affected by the slow progress of the US chip bill subsidies, and its chip expansion plan may be in waves. Intel may expand chip production in Europe rather than the U.S. if Congress fails to approve the $52 billion in government grants promised in the Chip Act, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger told a panel at the Aspen Ideas Festival.

It is reported that at present, Intel has confirmed that it will indefinitely suspend the groundbreaking ceremony of its chip factory in Ohio (originally scheduled for July 22), and does not rule out the possibility of downsizing. Intel spokesman Will Moss said that Intel will still build a local chip factory as originally planned, and is expected to break ground in the fall, but the speed and scale of the project will depend on the US chip subsidy bill.

At present, major fabs are stepping up their investment in the competition for chip production capacity. In order to further strengthen the security of the local semiconductor supply chain, countries and regions have also attracted leading fabs to build factories there. We will wait and see whether there will be any new variables in the future capacity expansion of Intel's factories.
